What Cincinnati seniors ask us most

Does it cost anything to work with Cincinnati Senior Insurance?
Nothing. Carriers build a set commission into every plan's price whether or not an agent is involved, so calling us never adds a dollar to your premium. You get a local set of eyes on your options for free.
When can I first enroll in Medicare?
Your Initial Enrollment Period runs seven months: three months before your 65th birthday month, that birthday month itself, and three months after. Enrolling in the earlier part of that window keeps your coverage starting on time, which matters if you're already booked for a procedure at UC Medical Center or The Christ Hospital.
Can I keep my current doctors?
With Original Medicare plus a Medigap plan, yes, any provider who accepts Medicare works. With Medicare Advantage it depends on the plan's network, which is a real issue here given how densely the Uptown hospital cluster is served by both UC Health and TriHealth. We check your doctors and hospital against each plan's current directory before you sign anything.
Is Medicare Advantage better than Medigap?
Neither wins for everyone. Medigap costs more each month but leaves almost nothing due at the doctor's office, with no network to worry about. Advantage costs less monthly but runs on copays and a network, usually bundling in drug coverage and extras. We've seen plenty of Procter & Gamble and Kroger retirees choose Medigap for the freedom to travel, while others on tighter budgets prefer an Advantage plan's lower monthly cost.
What happens if I don't sign up for Part B on time?
Unless you're still covered through active employment, Medicare tacks on 10% to your Part B premium for every full 12 months you waited, and that penalty usually sticks for good. Run the numbers on our Part B penalty calculator before you decide to wait.
I don't take any prescriptions. Do I still need Part D?
In most cases, yes. Go 63 days or longer without creditable drug coverage once you're eligible, and Medicare adds a permanent penalty to your Part D premium. A low-cost plan today is almost always cheaper than that penalty down the road.
Do I have to change plans every year?
No, but you should look. Networks, drug tiers and copays reset every January 1. A fifteen-minute check each fall is usually enough to confirm your plan still fits, whether you're near Findlay Market or out in Anderson Township.
Which hospitals do Cincinnati Medicare plans use?
Most local coverage runs through UC Health's Uptown campus and TriHealth's Good Samaritan and Bethesda North locations, plus a range of community clinics. GE Aerospace retirees in Evendale and hospitality workers commuting in from Over-the-Rhine both ask us this constantly, and the honest answer is that contracts shift from year to year, so we confirm the current plan year before you enroll anywhere.
Can you help if I'm under 65 and on Medicare due to disability?
Yes. Ohio treats under-65 Medicare beneficiaries differently, especially for Medigap eligibility and pricing. We'll go through exactly what's open to you given your situation.
Do you serve towns outside Cincinnati?
We work across Hamilton County and the surrounding towns, including Blue Ash, Mason, West Chester, Anderson Township, Hyde Park, Oakley and Covington just across the river.
